The 2008 Derby Day was a huge success and we want to thank all of our supporters, bidders and everyone who helped to make it
successful. A couple of people deserve special thanks. Catherine Groll for being our presenting sponsor.
Stephanie McCoy and the great people at WITL and
Citadel. Stephanie made the evening very memorable and has the best jokes
and sense of humor. Everyone from
Mason Elevator and Leslie Farm Center for helping us to educate everyone on the cost of caring for horses. We raised over $7,000 and we are still receiving donations. We are already planning the 2009 Derby Day - Run for the Rescue.
On Saturday, May 3, 2008, the day of the Kentucky Derby in Louisville, Kentucky, we will hold our second annual fundraising event, the ILPH-MI Derby Day-Run for the Rescue, at the
Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center on Beautiful Michigan State University Campus in East Lansing, Michigan. The event will start at 4pm, we will watch the Kentucky Derby and have food and drinks. But the highlight of the evening will include both a silent and a live auction. We will also have a
Derby Hat Contest
during the evening, with trophies and ribbons. Stephanie McCoy from WITL will be our very Special emcee. This is our annual fundraising party and our goal is to raise resources to help horses in need. Madison, the ILPH-MI official mascot, will attend the event as a guest of honor. Proceeds raised will all go to horses and the missions of the International League for the Protection of Horses - Michigan.
