Horse Quest USA
Horse Quest USA came to Michigan on Tuesday May 29, 2006. David and Anita arrived with Max and Roo. They arrived in a beautiful 41 foot Dream Coach, which was fun to get in the driveway. Once on the farm, they set up a pasture for Max and Roo with a fence from the great people at Grazier System. Max and Roo were at home in about a half hour.
Max and Roo are both Paint Horses, but it is clear that they come from different sides of the tracks. Roo is very princess like and Max, is well, Max.
On Wednesday we gave a tour to our guests of our rescued friends and showed them the progress they have made. We also talked about how
their trip has gone so far and where they are headed next.
On Thursday and Friday they went to Mackinaw Island and northern Michigan. While on the island they rode on a buggy that was pulled by Charlie.
On Saturday we went to Ionia State Park and rode. We took the short loop in hope of beating the weather and staying dry. The plan almost worked. It was very hot and while we were in the creek near the end of the trail one of us got wet. Anita was taking pictures of Uno and Max with their riders playing in the water and Roo decided it was a good time to lay down. We were so lucky to miss the weather, as we were driving out of the park it started to rain and rained most of the day after that.
On Sunday morning the weather was trying to ruin our plans again. But we went to Sleepy Hollow State Park and rode. We were greeted there by 4 members of the Michigan Trail Riders Association. We had a great ride on the East Trail and enjoyed the beauty of this park. And once again with luck on our side we missed the rain again as it started just as we were pulling out.
On Monday we attended a press conference at M3 offices in Lansing. We were so happy to receive coverage on channels 6, 10 and 47 and the Lansing State Journal. All of that awareness would not be possible with out the great help we receive from Motion, Marketing and Media (M3), and it's wonderful staff lead by Tiffany Dowling.
We set up a special donation account with First Giving for our trail riding friends. It is located at www.firstgiving.com/ilph-mi
