Facility Plans
International League for the Protection of Horses - Michigan is planning a horse rehabilitation, training and education center. This page will have the plans, phases and progress as we move forward
We have a 3 phase plan for the rehabilitation center
Phase 1 - Run in shelters and a new pasture. These shelters and pasture will help us to sort the horses in different herds based on their size and personality. It will also free up the stalls we have for the horses that need it most. Phase 1 is complete, thanks to a donation from the World Horse Welfare. We currently have 10 acres of fenced pastures, with run-ins available, 12 acres of alpha to bale, and 10 stalls for care and
rehabilitation
Phase 2 - An 8 stall barn (pictured above) and pasture. This would be used to house the incoming horses for treatment and rehabilitation. The current needs of the charity have made it necessary for an immediate barn to be constructed. We have designed a small barn to start the treatment and housing of welfare cases and donations of horses. This smaller barn will be started as soon as funds are available and we hope to have it up by spring 2009. Once this facility is built it will immediately be used for the care of horses. Plans and funding requirements will be posted by the New Year. A full materials list is available
here. If you have any materials or funds that could be donated for this cause please contact our Building Committee at jonesrw75@hotmail.com. All donations will be posted on-line and if one individual or organization donates a large portion of the project they will be consulted in the naming of the barn.
Phase 3 - An equestrian rehabilitation, training, and educational center. We will gather estimates and plans of the Facility. The 30,000 square foot facility will be built at the Rocky Meadows Farm in Dansville , MI. It will have 40 stalls, 2 isolation stalls/rooms, a veterinarian room, a 70' x 200' indoor arena, observation/conference room, and full kitchen. After we have completed the larger barn, the small one will be used for Isolation cases, and new arrivals. Blueprints will soon be available online.
